## TL;DR
Codex-style Electron desktop app for pi: a threaded session timeline, git worktrees per thread, multi-agent orchestration, an integrated PTY terminal, and an inline diff viewer — a UI shell over the pi runtime, not a separate agent.
## Key points
- $Each session renders as a Codex-style timeline of messages and collapsible tool calls; threads start either in the workspace directly (Local) or in an isolated git worktree so parallel work never collides.
- $An orchestrator thread can spin up and supervise child worker threads for multi-agent workflows.
- $Integrated real PTY terminal (node-pty), inline diff panel toggled with Cmd/Ctrl+D, @-mention files, image paste and drag-and-drop into the prompt.
- $Manage pi skills and extensions from a dedicated view; light/dark themes; native OS notifications when a run finishes; providers connect via OAuth or API key under Settings.
- $Public beta for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux (AppImage); macOS releases are signed and notarized.
## FAQ
Q How do I install it?
Download the .dmg or .AppImage from the GitHub Releases page, or on macOS: brew tap minghinmatthewlam/tap && brew install --cask pi-gui (update with brew upgrade --cask pi-gui).
Q Does it need its own model setup?
No. pi-gui runs on top of @earendil-works/pi-coding-agent and reuses pi's auth and session state — anything already configured in the pi CLI carries over; new providers connect under Settings → Providers.
