pi v1.3.0 picks where /share uploads go, keeps prompt caches on GPT-6 and Kimi changes, and restores resumed sessions' tools

pi v1.3.0 shipped on October 15, 2026, with five New Features entries: a sessionShareDestination setting for /share uploads, cache-preserving thinking-level changes on OpenAI GPT-6, Kimi Code over Chat Completions, clean model switching, and resume keeping active tools.

The new setting picks auto, GitHub gist, or Radius as the destination (#10870 by vegarsti). On GPT-6, changing the thinking level mid-session with an API key keeps the prompt cache (#10853). The kimi-coding provider moves to OpenAI Chat Completions at https://api.kimi.com/coding/v1 so K3, K3-256K, and Kimi For Coding take mid-conversation tools without invalidating the cache (#10720) — models.json overrides of its base URL must now include /v1.

Model switching drops thinking blocks from earlier messages produced by a different model instead of sending them as text (#10995). Resumed sessions restore the tools activated during them, --tools +name/-name applied on top — unless --tools with names, --no-tools, or --no-builtin-tools selects explicitly (#10785). Internal dependencies pin to exact versions so fresh installs stop mixing incompatible packages (#10865).

The provider pass is wide: --model prefers credentialed providers and reports ambiguity on multi-provider matches instead of picking by catalog order (#10160); Gemini 4 Argon on Vertex stops failing on thinking budgets, and the Gemini API honors the thinking level (#10890); Xiaomi MiMo keeps only the off and high levels after minimal 400s (#10818); retries fire on Unable to forward upstream stream and The service is temporarily unavailable errors (#10920, #10965); and Anthropic and Bedrock stop 400-ing when an error tool result carries images (#10794).

Tool-side fixes: finished tool calls with malformed final arguments fail validation and show the model the raw arguments instead of running on the parsed prefix (#10897); codemode caps live workers at two across sessions and stops cleanly on non-interruptible built-ins under Bun (#10748); read line-range labels normalize across the TUI, session tree, HTML exports, and examples (#9887); and an extension’s ctx.ui.custom({ overlay: true }) closes its own overlay on done() instead of the topmost one (#10648, #10999 by masonc15).

Nix packaging gets two repairs: the flake survives provider API switches via a refreshed catalog pin — releases pin the newest catalog before tagging (#10985); and the packaged Node.js no longer precedes the user’s node/npm on PATH (#10519). Every item sits under the release page’s New Features, Added, Changed, or Fixed heading, with tracking-issue links where one exists.
